MAGNAWAVE SEMI GAUSS OUTPUT TEST

In a recent Q & A, MagnaWave CEO Pat Ziemer received several questions about whether or not MagnaWave was FEI compliant. It’s true MagnaWave offers several high Gauss output machines, but we also offer the MagnaWave Semi, which, with the right attachments, is FEI compliant. Confident in the MagnaWave Semi Gauss Output Test, Mr. Ziemer shows it is FEI compliant.

MAGNAWAVE SEMI GAUSS OUTPUT TEST FEI COMPLIANT, THE REGULATIONS

The specific regulation in question refers to page 51 of FEI Veterinary Regulations, Chapter VI, Article 1064, #5 which states:

  • The use of PEMF machines is only permitted if their electromagnetic field is below 0.1 Tesla (1000 Gauss).

To prove the MagnaWave Semi gauss output test has an electromagnetic field below 1000 Gauss and is FEI compliant, Mr. Ziemer conducted a demonstration with the MagnaWave Semi, measuring its Gauss output with three different attachments:

  • The MagnaWave Butterfly Loop
  • The MagnaWave Large Loop
  • The MagnaWave Equine Wings

With the MagnaWave Semi ready to go, and a Gauss output measurement device from a certified manufacturer in place, Mr. Ziemer explained each step of what he was doing as he performed the MagnaWave Semi Gauss output tests.

THE MAGNAWAVE SEMI GAUSS OUTPUT TEST

To measure Gauss output on each attachment for the Semi, Mr. Ziemer used a small coil connected to the meter. He explained that the coil is placed inside the circle of the attachment then the reading is conducted. The coil is then turned over and a second reading taken. The two readings are then added together to determine the Gauss output of a specific attachment.

THE BUTTERFLY & THE MAGNAWAVE LARGE LOOP SEMI GAUSS OUTPUT TEST

The MagnaWave Butterfly Loop attachment has the highest Gauss output, so Mr. Ziemer began his demonstration with it. He first plugged the attachment in, then placing the camera on the meter, he showed the device was set at zero. The MagnaWave Semi has only three settings, low, medium, and high. With the MagnaWave Semi turned on, Mr. Ziemer placed the coil (attached to the Gauss measurement device) inside the MagnaWave Butterfly Loop. He then started the machine, on high, and read the meter. The first reading returned 74, which he explained to translate to 740 Gauss. Then he turned the coil over and conducted the second reading. The final Gauss output reading of the MagnaWave Butterfly Loop is 770.

He next demonstrated the MagnaWave Large Loop attached to the MagnaWave Semi, on high, repeating the process and recording each step. The actual Gauss output reading of the MagnaWave Large Loop is 420.

THE MAGNAWAVE SEMI EQUINE WINGS GAUSS OUTPUT TEST

Last, he attached the MagnaWave Semi to the MagnaWave Equine Wings. The wings are twenty-four inches in diameter. They were not open for the demonstration. By having them closed, laying on top of one another, they would produce their maximum Gauss output. Mr. Ziemer explained this was the same for the butterfly attachment which had been closed for the first demonstration.

Interestingly, although the MagnaWave Equine Wings were larger they put out less Gauss, yet get more muscle movement, than the butterfly attachment or the MagnaWave Large Loop. Mr. Ziemer explained you wouldn’t even actually use the high setting, he was only using it for the demonstration of maximum Gauss output. For actual use he recommended the medium setting.

Gauss output readings tend to come back higher when conducted on the edge of the interior circle, but readings can be conducted in the center as well. Mr. Ziemer placed the coil close to the edge. Again, he repeated the process, attaching the MagnaWave Equine Wings to the MagnaWave Semi device, turned it on high, and checked his meter. The actual Gauss output of the MagnaWave Equine Wings was 170.

THE MAGNAWAVE SEMI GAUSS OUTPUT TEST = FEI COMPLIANT

In conclusion, the MagnaWave Semi Gauss output test, when paired with the MagnaWave Butterfly Loop, the MagnaWave Large Loop, or the MagnaWave Equine Wings, tested as FEI Compliant with the current regulation of 1000 Gauss or less from a PEMF device. Therefore, the MagnaWave Semi is our recommended machine for FEI.
